We began studying how Henry VII came to power at the Battle of Bosworth. We found out about the Tudor rose and how it was formed. Henry's life also interested us so we learnt about his wife, his sons and how wealthy he made England!
We decided we needed to show what Henry had done for England, so we wrote a job advert for a new king for after his death. Aidan, Jacob, Sarah and Sofia all thought the new king should be brave, strong, intelligent, confident, have good skills in battle, be able to lift a sword and be able to deal with blood!
We followed up our work on Henry VII by beginning to discuss his second son, Henry VIII. We found out when Henry VIII came to the throne and discussed what type of a man he was. He played musical instruments, enjoyed sport and had many relationships. We payed particular attention to how he looked in his youth compared to how he looked as he got older!
Unsurprisingly Henry drank 10 pints of ale a day, drank wine containing sugar, ate huge loaves of bread and ate a massive amount of red meat! He had over 5000 calories a day so it was no suprise he ended up being so big!
